I remember this day I was in math class and my teacher told us The World Trade Center was being attacked and rolled a TV on wheels into the classroom she put the news I couldn't believe it moments later my father went to pick me up and took me home. Exactly Mark. I was looking at the list of councilors in the last local election. None of them said I am for my people They all stated we are for the community. Just a psa, when you are in these types of situations do not ever listen to people who tell you to stay put. With the ferry disaster in South Korea like 200 high school students drowned on a slow sinking ferry because they were told to stay put. The only people who survived that were the few who didnt listen and got off the boat. On 9/11 many people died because they were told not to leave. In school shootings we are told to get in a classroom and hide even if the shooter is far,but that is wrong, whenever you are in these situations dont follow the rules, leave! My heart hurts for people who die these ways. Hearing all these stories has made me realize to not follow the “procedure” in these life or death situations. Follow your gut and leave however you can.

He commited suicide a year and a half ago there. I wonder why. He lived there abt 9 years x. Wonderful film, heartfelt and beautiful acted/ filmed. I have a lot of little random tidbits of info to share from my experience from that day, so bear with me. I commuted through the WTC the morning of 9/10, and again that night around 11pm (I worked a double shift. Even though I lived right across the river from the towers in Jersey City, I ended up sleeping through the whole entire thing (including the towers coming down. Police sirens were what woke me up. I'm so thankful I worked nights at the time - I probably would have been there during the attacks. I'm also thankful I didn't get to see the horror unfold right outside my window because I was asleep (just saw all of the smoke and all of the emergency vehicles making their way into the city. I also lived in a high rise on top of the Holland Tunnel, so that was not very comforting, because nobody knew what target they would strike next. All of the roads were closed off so I couldn't leave, plus phone service was out. It was horrible trying to get in touch with my family to tell them I wasn't anywhere near the towers. My mom and husband (who was my boyfriend at the time) left me several messages on my answering machine while I was asleep giving me play-by-play info as things happened. My mom's voice became more worried with each message because she thought I was there. At the time I was working on a TV show called The Bravest which followed NYC firefighters as they went on calls - after 9/11 so many firefighters featured on the show were missing or deceased - it was so hard to work on the show after the tragedy. My coworker actually lost her husband, who was a firefighter. My uncle was a hero - he worked in the South Tower and told his entire company to leave when they made the announcement that it was ok to go back to their seats (before the 2nd plane hit. My dad's cousin was killed in the sky lobby of the South Tower upon the plane's impact into the building. I went into the city the next day and the PATH trains were all free. The city was EMPTY. I saw two tourists holding up a newspaper with a picture of the burning towers on it and smiling as someone took their picture - you have no idea how much I wanted to punch them. RIP Howard Kestenbaum (my dad's cousin) and all of the other victims. I will never ever forget that day.

Windows on the World is an engaging film that captures viewers attention and relates the reality of millions of immigrants living in the U.S. It is a must watch. Watch full windows on the world map. Only played at movie festivals at this time (unfortunately) Windows on the World is a great movie that will appeal to many of us. It is well written, new in perspective and very moving.
Along with Burning, it is the best movie that I have watched so far this year.
